As he walked a life quite blind,
His eyes would be lifted by a gift well timed.
A key to a door, which once opened cannot be closed.
His once safe life becomes exposed.
His journey now begins but not alone,
Along that jagged pathway, joined by comrades as yet unknown.
Not with bow, not with spear, nor with sword nor knife,
But knowledge and courage and compassion will guard his life.
In broken glimpses and swirls of mist,
The fighting and screaming did persist.
Running scared towards a goal,
Of unknown certainity froze his soul.
From disturbed dreams he did awake,
With sweat and tears and body shake.
Was it future or was it past he saw within that dark night.
Come keep him safe, oh morning sun, warm and bright.
On a bed of stone he lay,
To another time taken away.
Familiar yet foreign was this new place,
A new home he would now embrace.
Avoiding snake, wolf and bear,
To the village our hero found safety and care.
From that day his life began a new,
All that was before was lost in hazy hue.
Learning new knowledge, honing new skill,
Not a minute was wasted, no time to stand still.
Tying knots, pulling bow,
Drawing sword and learning friend from foe.
Rowing boat and riding horse,
Tracking footprints, staying on course.
At first the learner, then soon a master was he,
Worthy of that warrior and hero soon to be.
